998 Trees and Counting: North47’s Journey Towards Climate-Positive Travel

At North47, we believe that adventure shouldn't come at the planet's expense and consider sustainability as a non-negotiable when it comes to our operations. That’s why we're proud to partner with Trees4Travel - A climate-conscious initiative that helps both businesses and travellers understand their environmental impact, reduce their carbon footprint through mindful actions and choices, and contribute to climate solutions such as nature-based projects and clean energy projects.

Since joining the programme, we’ve planted an incredible 998 trees in Mozambique, a country where reforestation efforts are restoring vital ecosystems and supporting local communities. Every tree we plant is also backed up and connected to a United Nations renewable energy project in both wind and solar, so not only will the trees remove carbon from the atmosphere in the near future, but it also means we have to date reduced 163,772 kg of CO₂ from going into the air.

The trees planted through our partnership are currently mangroves, which are among the most effective trees on the planet for carbon sequestration. In fact, mangroves can store up to 5 to 10 times more carbon than most other tropical forests. But their benefits go far beyond carbon removal - they also protect coastlines from erosion, provide vital habitats for marine life, and support biodiversity in regions hit hardest by climate change. By planting mangroves, we’re not only tackling CO₂ emissions, we’re helping to regenerate ecosystems that benefit both people and planet.

Every North47 group trip contributes to this growing forest. Whether you're flying out for a ski adventure or joining us on a coach-based journey, we will continue to help shape a more sustainable travelling future. As ambassadors of change, we invite every traveller to join us on this important mission – North47 currently plants one tree with every travellers booking - the goal is not just to be carbon-neutral, but climate positive.
